TERENGGANU PIONEERS DIGITALISATION OF MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR SYARIAH LAWYERS

KUALA TERENGGANU, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIDAM) today launched the Syariah Lawyer Management System in conjunction with the commencement of the state’s Syariah legal year and presentation of Syariah legal practice certificate for 2026.

MAIDAM president Datuk Zulkifli Ali said the system was developed as the official platform for applications to register as a Syariah lawyer and renewal of Syariah legal practice certificates in the state.

“Previously, applications were made manually through forms submitted to MAIDAM. The fully online system simplifies and streamlines applications to become a Syariah lawyer as well as the renewal of Syariah legal practice certificates in Terengganu,” he told reporters after the ceremony today.

Zulkifli said the system is the first of its kind in Malaysia, positioning Terengganu as a pioneer in the digitalisation of Syariah legal management.

Through the system, applicants can submit applications, check their status, obtain interview results and access information related to accreditation and official admission as a Syariah lawyer in Terengganu.

“The implementation of the system not only accelerates work processes but also introduces a more systematic and efficient paperless management approach.

“It reduces the use of paper, manpower and administrative costs, while supporting sustainable governance practices and environmental conservation,” he said.

Zulkifli added that the initiative would enhance service delivery efficiency, strengthen Syariah legal governance and serve as a benchmark for other states in digitalising services related to Syariah legal practice.

The event was organised by MAIDAM in collaboration with the Terengganu Syariah Judicial Department (JKSTR), marking the symbolic commencement of the new year for the state’s Syariah judiciary and legal fraternity.
