SHAH ALAM, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) detected 67 cases involving traders who failed to comply with regulations under various enforcement acts during the eight-day Ops Pantau 2026 which began on Feb 19.

Selangor KPDN director Muhamad Hanif Asa'ari said the action was the result of inspections at 1,284 premises throughout the state involving various hotspots including Ramadan bazaars, Hari Raya bazaars, public markets, supermarkets and grocery stores.

According to him, the cases recorded involved the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 in 35 cases; the Weights and Measures Act 1972 (26 cases); Control of Supplies Act 1961 (three cases); the Consumer Protection Act 1999 (two cases) and the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 (one case).

“The types of offences detected include failure to display price tags, use of unverified weighing and measuring instruments, misleading price marking, not having a scheduled controlled goods permit and selling goods using an invalid trademark.

“The Selangor KPDN would like to stress that inspections under Ops Pantau will continue until Hari Raya Aidilfitri and strict action will be taken against any trader found to have committed an offence under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011,” he said after monitoring and taking action at the Ramadan bazaar in Section 13 Stadium, Shah Alam today.

To increase enforcement, the Selangor KPDN also uses the Consumer STAR Van (Consumer Resolution Complaint Action Squad) at hotspots such as Ramadan bazaars to make it easier for consumers to lodge complaints directly.

“The van functions as a mobile counter to make it easier for consumers to obtain information directly from the ministry, thus enabling action to be taken more quickly and effectively,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhamad Hanif said that the Selangor KPDN with in collaboration with local authorities (PBT) will organise 16 Ramadan Rahmah Bazaars (BRR) throughout the state of Selangor which offer Rahmah Menu at affordable prices.

“In addition, the Selangor State BRR will also introduce two new KPDN initiatives, namely the Ihsan Food Bank (I-FB) to reduce food waste and the PATUH initiative to ensure that all traders comply with regulations and laws under the supervision of the KPDN,” he said.
