TWO KILLED IN JASIN HEAD-ON COLLISION

JASIN, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- Two people were killed in a head-on collision involving two cars on Jalan Serkam–Bemban, near Jasin, yesterday evening.

Jasin District Police chief Supt Lee Robert said the victims were a 33-year-old man, who was driving a Perodua Bezza, and a 74-year-old woman, a passenger in a Proton Wira.

“We received a report of the fatal crash at about 6.50 pm. The Perodua Bezza was travelling from Bemban towards Serkam, while the Proton Wira, driven by a 44-year-old man, was heading in the opposite direction. The Proton Wira was also carrying the driver’s elderly mother and his 40-year-old brother,” he said in a statement today.

He said preliminary investigations indicate that the Perodua Bezza skidded into the opposite lane upon reaching the scene, leaving the Proton Wira driver unable to avoid the collision.

“The Perodua Bezza driver suffered internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Proton Wira driver sustained injuries to his arm and body, while his brother suffered chest injuries.

“The elderly woman was rushed to Hospital Jasin and treated in the red zone before being pronounced dead at about 9.30 pm,” he added.
