KUALA TERENGGANU, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- A girl, aged six, was killed after she was hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) along Jalan Perumahan Batu Hampar, Manir, near here this afternoon.
Kuala Terengganu district police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said they received a report at 4.12 pm about the crash involving a Toyota Harrier and a bicycle, and the girl, Nur Adelia Qistina Mohd Shukri, who was riding the bicycle, sustained severe injuries to her head and died while being treated at the Manir health clinic.
"Preliminary investigations revealed the crash happened when the SUB driver, who was driving straight from their house at Batu Hampar housing estate to the Batu Hampar Ramadan Bazaar hit the bicyclist who came out from the right junction suddenly.
"Due to the close distance, the woman driver was unable to avoid the bicycle and hit the front left side of the bicycle,” he said in a statement today.
The girl’s body was at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for further action and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
