KENINGAU, March 2 (Bernama) -- Police inspected 120 individuals during an operation to curb illegal street racing on public roads in the Bandar Baru Bataras area on Saturday (Feb 28), and uncovered cash betting activities and drug use.
Keningau police chief Supt Yampil Anak Garai said the integrated operation, held from 11.30 pm to 3 am (March 1), was conducted following public tip-offs and intelligence gathered.
He said police also inspected 105 vehicles at the scene, leading to the discovery of the suspected use of Methamphetamine and ketum water.
"The operation was conducted by 36 personnel from various divisions, including the Criminal, Narcotics and Traffic Divisions and the Special Branch,” he said in a statement today, adding that a man was arrested under Section 12(3) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Under the same operation, police also detained 10 men under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for failing to produce valid identification documents, while the Traffic Division issued 25 summonses for various traffic offences.
