PUTRAJAYA, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- The second series of the “Katakan Tidak Kepada Buruh Paksa” (Say No to Forced Labour) roadshow programme is being held in Pahang for two days starting today.

The programme, organised by the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) through the Peninsular Malaysia Department of Labour (JTKSM) to combat forced labor and human trafficking was launched by KESUMA Secretary-General Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof.

KESUMA, in a statement in conjunction with the launch h of the programme in Pahang today, stated that the programme will highlight efforts taken to deal with the issue of forced labour.

Apart from that, it said, the ministry will empower best practices in employee management in the labour and private sectors.

"We are (also) working to apply the concept of 'inclusivity' in an effort to raise public awareness regarding the issue of forced labor and human trafficking.

It said the programme will continue to be implemented to ensure that not only are national labour laws effectively enforced, but also that advisory services can be provided directly to the public.

"This is because we recognise that the general public and local communities play a crucial role as the ministry's eyes and ears in addressing global issues such as forced labour and human trafficking."

"Through JTKSM and its associated departments and agencies, KESUMA will continue to strengthen efforts and enforcement actions to ensure the sustainability and continuity of the country's labour industry development activities," read the statement.

The first series of the roadshow programme was held in Johor last July and it was carried out in collaboration with various agencies including the Information Department, the Royal Malaysia Police and the Immigration Department.
