KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin conveyed his condolences to the family of Corporal Petrus Linggi Liman, 29, who was killed by a random shot during the Pasak Bumi exercise in the general area of Kanowit-Nanga Dap-Song, Sibu, Sarawak yesterday.
“I would like to convey my deepest condolences over this loss and let us all pray that his family will be able to manage through such a difficult time,” he said in a Facebook post today.
The Malaysian Army Command Public Relations Cell issued a statement yesterday confirming that a personnel from the 9th Brigade in Sibu was killed by a gunshot at 2.45 am while undergoing training.
The statement said that the personnel was given first aid at the location of the incident before being rushed to the Song Health Clinic at 4 am and was referred to the Kapit Hospital for further treatment at about 5 am.
The personnel was subsequently confirmed dead at 7.43 am at the hospital and a police report was then lodged over the incident.
