JPJ UPGRADES MYJPJ APP FOLLOWING HIGH DEMAND FOR SPECIAL TRANSITION PROGRAMME

01/10/2024 06:11 PM

KAJANG, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is upgrading the MyJPJ application following the implementation of the Special Malaysian Driving Licence (LMM) Transition Programme from Class B2/B1 to Class B (high-powered motorcycles), which has seen high demand for online eligibility checks.

Its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said this upgrade is being carried out to ensure maximum accessibility for eligibility checks for Malaysians eligible to apply at selected driving institutes nationwide, starting today.

He added that holders of Class B2/B1 LMM can also check their eligibility for this special programme through the public mySIKAP portal at https://public.jpj.gov.my or at the nearest JPJ counters. If eligible, applicants can then visit any of the selected institutes nationwide to participate in this special programme.

"A total of 180 out of 244 driving institutes nationwide have agreed to offer this programme. Based on our feedback, we have experienced quite high demand, and our system encountered some issues due to the heavy traffic for eligibility checks.

"I hope the public will remain patient and follow the proper procedures, checking eligibility first, selecting a school, and when registering at the driving school to join this special programme, licence holders must self-declare their physical, mental, and bodily health," he told a press conference here today.

"The maximum fee cap for the driving institutes for this special programme is set at RM160, which covers student registration and insurance, a two-hour transition and adaptation course, service fees including vehicle and circuit rental, as well as the JPJ test fee.

"This special programme aims to upgrade Class B2/B1 Malaysian Driving Licence (LMM) holders to Class B, subject to the set requirements, and no new applications will be accepted for Class B1 LMM at driving institutes," he added.

Meanwhile, a participant, Afifi Anuar, did not expect to be the first in the programme after holding a B2 licence for nearly 20 years.

"Today, I underwent two hours of training before taking the test. Alhamdulillah, I only took the (circuit) test once and passed," he said when met after the circuit test for the special programme.

Although he does not yet own a high-powered motorcycle, Afifi, who is a public servant, wanted to take the opportunity to participate in the programme as he had met all the stipulated requirements.
