KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Some 70 teams will compete and explore the historical state of Melaka during the Melaka Explorace 2024 this weekend (Oct 5 and 6).
Melaka Explorace 2024 Clerk-of-Course M. Govind Nair said all the teams will explore the beauty and uniqueness of Melaka, a state rich in history and heritage, through all three districts—Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah, and Jasin—via a treasure hunt activity that involves walking, driving, riding trishaws and river cruising.
“This Melaka Explorace 2024 will take participants to places such as museums filled with history and heritage. In addition, they will visit special eateries such as the famous ‘cendol jam besar,’ and finally, the race will end at a welfare home.
“Every time we organise a treasure hunt, we often include an element of charity… at the end of the programme, participants will enjoy some fun activities with the residents of one of the welfare homes in Jasin,” he told Bernama after giving a briefing on the Melaka Explorace 2024 at Wisma Bernama here today.
Also present were Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chief Executive Officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Bernama Editor-in-Chief, Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
There will be three competing categories, namely the open category (for the public), the Melaka State Government Agencies/Bernama category and the Media category.
The prize-giving ceremony will be held on Oct 6, and participants dressed in traditional attire representing the diverse communities in Melaka will stand a chance to win exciting prizes.
The explorace themed "Mana Lagi, Melaka Ler!", is organised by the Melaka State Government in collaboration with Bernama in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2024 (VMY2024).
Govind Nair added that Melaka Explorace 2024 will also be an “eye-opener” for first-time visitors to Melaka, as it will enhance their knowledge of the state.
The winner of the open category will receive a cash prize of RM10,000, while the winners of the Media and Melaka State Government Agencies/Bernama categories will each receive RM5,000.
Additionally, participants in Melaka Explorace stand a chance to win four motorcycles and various attractive prizes in a lucky draw.
