LABUAN, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- The second phase of the Kina Benuwa Mangrove Park Eco-Tourism Development Project here has been completed and handed over to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC).

Labuan Public Works Department (PWD) director Mohd Faizul Mohd Ali Hanapiah said the RM1.68 million project was officially handed over to MOTAC on Sept 25.

Mohd Faizul said the PWD, which oversaw the project, is committed to ensuring all developments in Labuan meet high standards for the benefit of the public and the growing tourism sector.

“The latest phase included repairing signboards, landscaping, upgrading wooden walkways and constructing a floating jetty. Plans are also in place to add public restrooms and a surau to enhance the visitor experience and boost the park’s appeal,” he told Bernama here today.

He emphasised the department's strong support for MOTAC and Labuan Corporation in preserving Labuan’s heritage and promoting it as a key tourism hub, adding that collaboration among all stakeholders is crucial to protect the island’s natural beauty.

“This development marks a significant step in strengthening Labuan’s eco-tourism sector and PWD is grateful for the trust placed in them to help realise this vision,” he added.
