ISLAMABAD, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is on a three-day state visit to Pakistan, was today awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy by the country’s National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).
NUST is Pakistan’s multi-campus public research university with its main campus located in Islamabad and other campuses throughout the country, providing tertiary education to more than 10,000 undergraduates and post-graduate students.
Arriving in Islamabad last night, Anwar took time off from his busy schedule and visited the university to deliver an address titled “Echoes of Iqbal: Charting a Future of Renewal and Progress” to NUST students and academic staff.
He also took questions from students of the university.
Earlier today, Anwar and his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif launched selected translated works by renowned Pakistani poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, translated into Bahasa Melayu and the MADANI Malaysia book into Urdu.
In the morning, the Prime Minister had also met Shehbaz Sharif at the Pakistan Prime Minister’s official residence, where they and their delegation held a bilateral meeting to discuss various issues affecting both countries.
This is Anwar’s first visit to Pakistan since assuming office in Nov 2022.
