PUTRAJAYA, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- Six innovative products developed by TM Research & Development (TM R&D), a subsidiary and research arm of Multimedia University, have received recognition under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation’s (MOSTI) Use Local R&D Product Initiative (MySTI).
TM R&D chief executive officer Dr Sharlene Thiagarajah said the recognition was received during Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) Minister Chang Lih Kang’s recent visit to the TM R&D innovation exhibition in Cyberjaya.
“We are honoured to have received a visit from Chang and take great pride in our innovation being recognised under the MySTI Programme.
“By developing six innovative solutions that address critical operational needs, we are strengthening the ecosystem that drives Malaysia’s digital economy,” she said in a statement today.
She said that the six products showcased at the exhibition included a fleet management system known as the Connected Vehicle System (CONVES) and the Smart Water Integrated Management System, which seeks to improve non-revenue water management for water operators.
Other products featured were the Field Force Management System (FORCE); a smart integrated dashboard designed for data-driven decision-making in smart city initiatives; the Fast Internet for Rural Areas (FIRA), which facilitates the rapid deployment of high-speed broadband for rural users; and a security solution based on the Internet of Things (IoT) for the industrial workforce, known as the Smart Helmet.
Sharlene said the products were innovative solutions designed to enhance operational efficiency and represented considerable progress in operational effectiveness and safety across multiple industries and sectors.
She stated that the certification demonstrated TM R&D’s commitment to world-class technology and positioned it as a key driver of Malaysia’s digital transformation.
“It also demonstrates that local innovation can effectively contribute to the country’s technological advancement,” she said.
Sharlene also said that the certification could significantly increase the visibility of TM R&D products in government procurement, bolster the competitiveness of local technology, provide job opportunities, and attract investment to the Malaysian technology sector.
She expressed optimism about TM R&D’s investments in research and development activities and local talent development, stating that these efforts would position Malaysia as a regional hub for advanced technological innovation.
