KUBANG PASU GOES SMART: NEW PARKING SYSTEM LAUNCHED

24/10/2024 10:22 PM

JITRA, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- The Kubang Pasu Municipal Council (MPKP) launched its smart parking system with state-of-the-art technology to drive the district's intelligent city development agenda.

The 'Smart Kubang Pasu' system will be developed by HeiTech Padu Berhad (HeiTech). It aims to revolutionise the management and parking fee collection system by combining the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cloud Computing technology with a navigation system and online payment system.

HeiTech Group Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Salmi Nadia Mohd Hilmey said the system will be developed on a concession basis for ten years until 2034.

"I see this system as an important achievement for HeiTech and MPKP because it reflects the aspirations and commitment of both parties towards the development of a sustainable smart city based on innovation, the latest technology and environmental sustainability," she said.

She said this at today's Kubang Pasu Smart Launch Ceremony, which was officiated by MPKP chairman Badrulhisham Sulaiman.

Salmi Nadia said HeiTech is pleased with MPKP's trust to implement the system and based on its expertise and experience from previous projects, the company believes it can provide the best service according to MPKP's expectations and needs.

"Smart parking solutions such as the Smart Kubang Pasu are part of HeiTech's contribution to the Malaysian Smart City Framework, in line with its mission to help local authorities develop smart cities," she said adding that HeiTech's parking solution, Park Smart Plus (PS+), has advantages over other solutions in the market.

"Among PS+'s advantage is the use of the latest technology, such as sensors and a global tracking system (GPS) that guides drivers to parking lots based on real-time information application, either through a mobile phone or the infotainment system in their respective vehicles.

"When fully operational, this digital transformation initiative will benefit MPKP in providing more efficient parking management by optimising the use of parking spaces, saving time, reducing traffic congestion, minimising carbon emissions thus aiding towards a healthier environment," she said.

Salmi Nadia said the system will also increase revenue through more efficient and effective management, maintenance, and enforcement.

Meanwhile, Badrulhisham said Smart Kubang Pasu is at a turning point in the conventional technological system used, especially in managing public parking spaces in the district.

"The implementation of Smart Kubang Pasu is in line with MPKP's agenda to create a smart city that will add value to the well-being of the people of Kubang Pasu," he said.

He said using the Smart Kubang Pasu system also supports the move towards a low-carbon city status, as it can help reduce the duration of petrol and diesel consumption.

"The Smart Kubang Pasu application is equipped with information on the availability of parking lots that can be used by vehicle owners and save time.

"MPKP aims to fully implement Smart Kubang Pasu by the beginning of 2025 and users are advised to download the Smart Kubang Pasu application to make their affairs easier in the future," he said.
