PUTRAJAYA, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- The government has agreed to give an additional day off for students in the Department of Manpower Training Institution (ILJTM) in conjunction with the Deepavali Day celebration which will be celebrated on Oct 31, said Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong.
In a statement today, he said for ILJTM in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, the additional holiday will be on Oct 30, while ILJTM in other states will be on Nov 1.
"Since there are 1,500 Indian students at ILJTM, Kesuma (Ministry of Human Resources) has agreed to give an additional day off to all ILJTM students.
"The four-day long leave can be used as well as possible by all ILJTM students, especially Hindu students to welcome the Deepavali Day celebration with their families," he said.
However, to achieve and suffice the hours of teaching and learning activities (PdP) training, Steven Sim said substitute classes should be held on a suitable date before the end of their semester training.
Deepavali falls on Oct 31, and the day has been declared a national public holiday.
