KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The ‘LIMA Run’, a fun run held in conjunction with the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA 2025), will make its debut in the capital city this Sunday.
Event organiser Global Exhibitions and Conferences Sdn Bhd (GEC) said this is the first time the fun run is being held since the inaugural LIMA exhibition in 1991.
“This Sunday’s event coincides with Kuala Lumpur’s vehicle-free day and serves as a unique initiative to encourage a healthy lifestyle within the aerospace and maritime communities while engaging the public.
“It also seeks to strengthen relationships between industry players and the public, providing greater awareness of the aerospace and maritime sectors’ developments in Malaysia,” GEC said in a statement today.
With the theme “Innovate Today, Thrive Tomorrow”, the LIMA Run will feature two categories: 5km and 7km and is expected to attract participants from various sectors.
LIMA 2025, co-organised by GEC and the Ministry of Defence, is scheduled to take place from May 20 to 24 next year.
GEC said the LIMA Run will bring together a diverse group of participants, including personnel from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), foreign embassy representatives, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Langkawi District and Land Office.
"The run will start and end at Dataran Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, passing through Kuala Lumpur landmarks such as the Petronas Twin Towers, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, and Merdeka Square, as well as the iconic views of the Malaysian capital," read the statement.
The LIMA Run is part of the promotional activities of LIMA 2025, which will showcase cutting-edge aerospace and maritime technologies across defence and commercial sectors, as well as introduce new segments such as space exploration, maritime and aerospace innovation, cruising and more.
The event has garnered strong industry support, with sponsorships from companies including Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd, Galaxy Aerospace Sdn Bhd, G7 Global Aerospace Sdn Bhd and Lumut Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd.
“We are also grateful to event partners such as MyCar, Ladang’57 by FGV, NCM, MILO, Brooks and Decathlon for their contributions in making this event a success,” GEC said.
