KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- The Rahmah MADANI Sales booth, offering essential items such as cooking oil, rice, and eggs at affordable prices, continues to be a major attraction at the Two Years of MADANI Government Programme (2TM), which began today.
Since its opening at 9 am at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, crowds have flocked to the booth, where basic necessities are available at discounted rates of between 10 and 30 per cent.
Civil servant Azlee Abd Aziz, 36, expressed support for the government’s efforts to ease the people’s burden through the Rahmah MADANI Sales and called for the initiative to continue so that more from the B40 and M40 groups could benefit from it.
““Even those who have not yet received their salary can still purchase and save on these necessities,” he said.
Mat Jidin Johor, 53, from Kampung Pandan here, shared that he attended the programme to exchange his old helmet at the Road Transport Department’s booth and took the opportunity to buy some essential items.
“Alhamdulillah, I managed to buy a few essential items and saved money as the prices were cheaper than those at the supermarket,” he said.
Sofia Sairi, 61, a private sector retiree from Subang Jaya, expressed her gratitude for the government's efforts to ease the burden of rising living costs by offering essential items at affordable prices through the Rahmah MADANI Sales programme.
The items on offer include five kilograms (kg) of cooking oil for RM21.90, five kg of rice priced at RM15, and 30 grade A eggs at RM10.
Other available products include canned sardines, chilli sauce, soy sauce, chocolate malt drink, and coconut milk.
In conjunction with the three-day 2TM programme, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) is also organising the Agro MADANI Sales, which offers fresh produce, controlled items, and selected basic goods such as vegetables and fruits.
