SEREMBAN, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Two alternative routes to alleviate congestion on the Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah, namely connecting Seri Menanti-Ulu Sepri and Kampung Guntur-Langkap, are expected to be completed in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the two projects, costing RM165.46 million, commenced in 2021 and 2022.
“There have been some technical issues at the site, which have caused delays. We anticipate physical works for both projects to proceed once the land acquisition and environmental impact assessment are completed,” he said at the state assembly sitting today.
He was responding to a question from Muhammad Sufian Maradzi (BN-Seri Menanti) who inquired about the status of the roads and the estimated completion timeline, given that the projects have been delayed for nearly four years.
To a question from Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir (BN-Jeram Padang) regarding the approval to use land owned by the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) for an alternative road to Kampung Orang Asli Panchor, Klebang and Lubuk Lawang, Aminuddin said it is expected to be resolved next year.
“In this matter, RAC, as the owner and manager of railway assets, will review the proposed crossing design and the technical feedback from the relevant authorities before submitting it for approval by the Land Public Transport Agency. It has also been forwarded to the Transport Minister,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin said the Negeri Sembilan Irrigation and Drainage Department has carried out river maintenance works, including removing obstacles and periodically clearing sections of rivers.
“To date, 17 rivers have been included in the reciprocal programme, including Sungai Kepayang, Sungai Linggi, Sungai Pertang, Sungai Lenggeng and Sungai Rembau,” he said in response to a question from Datuk Bakri Sawir (PH-Klawang) who asked whether a baseline river study had been conducted to address flooding and for a list of affected rivers.
