KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- Members of the public are invited to attend the 2024 Communication Carnival, which will take place at IWK Eco Park @ Pantai Dalam here this Friday and Saturday.
Communications Ministry deputy secretary-general (Telecommunications Infrastructure) Mano Verabathran said that the purpose of organising the carnival is, among other things, to enhance communication literacy among the public and to increase their understanding of the ministry's initiatives.
“We aim to educate the public on the Internet, broadband, and the easy delivery of information online. Additionally, we want to raise awareness and empower the public to prevent the misuse of the Internet and protect them from falling victim to scams.
“Many educational information will be shared at this carnival…for example, an explanation about the emergency line 999 and how this line is often misused, so that this doesn't recur.
“There will also be a briefing on scam issues by the National Financial Crime Prevention Centre (NFCC),” he said when featured in Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia programme today.
Mano said that in addition to departments and agencies under the Communications Ministry, the carnival will also feature agencies from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, Home Ministry, Health Ministry, the Royal Malaysian Police, as well as telecommunications companies such as U Mobile, CelcomDigi, Maxis, and YTL (YES).
He said that some of the exciting activities include the Rahmah Sale, stamp printing with personal images by Pos Malaysia, telco package offers, Quran exchange, and a counter for paying traffic fines.
As the closing event on Saturday, Mano said there will be RIUH x Communication Carnival 2024 concert featuring local artistes including Bunkface, Naim Daniel, Iman Troye, and MUAH! band.
Further information can be found on the carnival's official website at karnival.komunikasi.gov.my, as well as on the official Communication Carnival social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and TikTok).
