GEORGE TOWN, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- A total of 30 Penang City Council (MBPP) staff and volunteers from several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) joined a flood relief mission to Pasir Mas, Kelantan today.
State Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jason H'ng Mooi Lye said MBPP also sent 10 vehicles to assist in their mission, including recycling trucks, lorries, utility vans, four-wheel drive vehicles and a truck.
He said the team also brought along food supplies and other essentials for the flood victims, including floor mats, blankets, towels, disposable diapers and mineral water.
"The MBPP has contacted the Pasir Mas District Council and preparations have been made since Saturday (Nov 30) to provide food supplies and other essentials to ensure the mission's success.
"We hope this assistance will be of help to the affected residents, especially in cleaning up the houses,” he told reporters after the flag-off ceremony at the MBPP grounds here today that was also attended by MBPP Mayor Datuk A. Ranjendran.
