MADANI GOVT ON THE RIGHT TRACK WITH CLEAR POLICIES - AHMAD ZAHID

04/12/2024 01:40 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- The MADANI government is on the right track in governing the country with clear policies, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said during the two years of the MADANI government's administration, Malaysia was famous worldwide with various changes in terms of investment, industry, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and various other aspects launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"We can see that none of the groups (people) are marginalised. In addition, for the next three years, we must see if our key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved.

"There is nothing that cannot be measured and the measurement will be in the 16th General Election. Give the MADANI Government another chance," he said when appearing as a guest on Bernama-TV's Ruang Bicara programme titled 'Two Years of MADANI with Zahid Hamidi'.

Datuk Sherkawi Jirim who hosted the programme asked the Deputy Prime Minister whether the MADANI Government is on the right track and has succeeded in satisfying all the people, including those who think that this government administration will not last long.

Ahmad Zahid said the country should not learn from the bitter experience of the change of federal government three times in the last term which caused the country's economy, ringgit exchange rate, foreign direct investment and domestic investment to plummet.

"It was further affected when COVID-19 broke out and the government's reserves had to be withdrawn, so Petronas had to give triple the reserves to the government at that time.

"As a result, Petronas does not have enough funds to explore new areas in certain countries that offer exploration to Petronas and Petronas has to borrow at this time," he said.

Ahmad Zahid said many changes had been made by the Prime Minister despite criticism from various quarters.

"If a new product is presented to the public, there will be 22 per cent who will not like it, but we have another 78 per cent (likes), we will implement it," he said, adding that the government will use the criticism received as a guide to make changes.

On UMNO, Ahmad Zahid, who is also the party president said UMNO was open to reinstating leaders or members who had been suspended for criticising the party.

"I am democratic in this matter, criticise me as much and I personally will forgive, but don't hit your own party. I can't accept it. Whoever has repented, the Supreme Council (MKT) has decided to open the door and we will not close the door," he said, adding that the party always monitors those who assist in the election or attend party’s meetings.

Recently, UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki announced that the Supreme Council had lifted the suspension of former Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
