IPOH, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- The Perak State Assembly today unanimously passed the 2025 Budget, which allocates RM1.52 billion, the highest budget in the state's history.
The Perak Supply Enactement Bill 2025 and the Perak Development Fund Enactment Bill 2025 were debated for two days from Dec 2, involving 45 assemblymen, 19 from the government bloc and 26 from the opposition.
The Budget was tabled by Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad last Friday.
Themed 'Perak Makmur, Rakyat Sejahtera', it focuses on five priorities - people's welfare, good governance of state projects, human capital and youth development, environmental sustainability and food security.
Saarani, in his winding-up speech, also announced a two-month Special Financial Assistance (BKK) allowance to each State Assemblyman's Service Centre in Perak.
"When I announced the two-month salary BKK on Nov 29 (during the presentation of the 2025 Budget), I didn't mention BKK for the ADUNs (assemblymen). I apologise, I can't give (BKK) this time, so as a replacement, I agree to give BKK to the service centres, meaning we will pay RM14,000 for each service centre.
"Hopefully, the YBs (assemblymen) can continue to serve the people, especially during this flood season," he said.
Earlier, Saarani said as Menteri Besar, he would always ensure that every level of society, regardless of whether they are in the government or opposition areas, would be able to feel the results of the allocation channeled.
"The State Government will not be unfair to any people in all 59 state constituencies in Perak.
"However, I acknowledge that there is still room for improvement to ensure that the allocation distribution process can be carried out in a more organized manner," he said.
In this regard, he said, the Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) has been asked to prepare a specific guideline to ensure that the procedure for allocating funds to government and opposition areas next year can be done better and more systematically.
