DOSH CONDUCTED THREE CONSTRUCTION SITE OPERATIONS FROM FEB-NOV

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) conducted three construction site operations (OTP) at 475 construction sites nationwide from February to November, this year.

It said in a statement that overall, a total of 498 instruction letters; 416 prohibition notices; 187 notices on upgrades; 102 confiscation notices; 103 proposed compounds; and nine proposed prosecutions were issued in the three operations.

It said the first OTP, themed 'Tapak Bina Selamat, Tiada Jatuh Lagi', was held from Feb 27-March 6 at 133 construction sites and focused on work activities at high places and lifting work.

The second OTP,  from Sept 2-13, was done at 192 construction sites nationwide under the theme 'Double SPARK', focusing on the Legislative Dissemination of Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022.

"It aimed to see how far the industry players and employers understood and complied with the Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act, which came into effect on June 1,” it added.

It said the third OTP, themed, 'Tiada Jatuh, Pekerja Selamat', was held from Nov 25-29 and focused on general knowledge of the Regulations (Construction Work) (Design and Management) 2024, working in high places and lifting works involving 150 sites.

The statement added that the OTPs were conducted to raise awareness among employers and workers about the importance of taking care of safety and health while at work.

DOSH said it received 1,144 reports of workers falling from high places last year.
