KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YAPEIM) has contributed RM50,000 to 50 media practitioners and members of the Malaysian Artistes Association (Karyawan).
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said YAPEIM provided a cash contribution of RM1,000 to each recipient.
He said that the media practitioners receiving the contributions were members of the KL and Selangor Media Club (KLS), Putrajaya Media Club (KMP), Crime Journalists Association (CiJA), and Malaysian Sports Writers Association (SAM).
"The cooperation from these five entities has enabled YAPEIM to realise its aim of assisting media practitioners, including journalists, photographers, cameramen, former media professionals, and artistes in need," he said during the YAPEIM Appreciation and Charity Event here today.
Mohd Na’im added that YAPEIM's primary objective is to ease the burden of heads of households, with donations allocated based on various criteria, including deserving target groups.
"Most of the recipients of its aid are from low-income families, the B40 group, or those earning below the poverty line," he said.
Also present at the event were Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chief Executive Officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Deputy Editor-in-Chief (News Service) Nasriah Darus.
