KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- Local sellers and brands achieved remarkable success during Shopee Malaysia’s 12.12 Birthday Sale, with first-time participants recording an impressive 30-fold increase in sales compared to an average day.
In a statement today, Shopee Malaysia attributed the growth to its comprehensive ecosystem of features including Shopee Live, Shopee Affiliate and vouchers, which helped sellers engage with customers and boost sales nationwide.
"Malaysians' favourite local brands, such as Dr. Cardin, ELGINI MALAYSIA, Indah Pesona Concept Store, Panda Eyes Official Store, and Popi Official Store, generated some of the highest orders from their livestream sessions," the statement noted.
The Shopee Affiliates further bolstered visibility for sellers, contributing to one in four orders for local businesses, including allblue5367, HYGR, and Panna Lab. The statement read that affiliates also produced over 1 million Shopee Videos, significantly increasing visibility for local sellers.
At the same time, the e-commerce platform highlighted that Malaysians enjoyed substantial savings during the campaign, with over RM400 million in savings achieved through Shopee’s Lowest Price Guarantee.
According to the statement, Shopee Live played a key role in the 12.12 campaign, with over 51 million Shopee Coins claimed during livestreams, highlighting strong consumer engagement.
Popular product categories included Health & Beauty (Skincare), Home & Living (Home Improvement) and Groceries & Pets (Household Supplies) while items like women's sandals, power banks and baju kurung were among the top searches.
Meanwhile, Shopee Malaysia Head of Marketing and Business Intelligence Tan Ming Kit emphasized that the success of the 12.12 sale reflects the hard work of sellers, affiliates and customers.
"We're excited for our 10th year ahead, with even more exciting plans in the works. We truly appreciate the support of everyone involved and look forward to continuing this journey of growth and success together,” he added.
The 12.12 campaign saw impressive growth for local businesses, as Shopee’s tools enable sellers to reach a broader audience, with strong sales recorded by businesses from cities like Johor Bahru, Kinta, Seremban, Kuantan dan Kota Bharu, showcasing the platform's nationwide impact, the statement read.
