KOTA KINABALU, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- Tun Musa Aman, who has been appointed as the 11th Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah effective Jan 1, 2025, returned to Kota Kinabalu today.
The aircraft carrying Musa arrived at Terminal 2 of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) at 12.02 pm and he was greeted by Sabah Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.
Also present to welcome Musa home were state Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim; Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) deputy president Datuk Robert Tawik, who is also the state Assistant Works Minister; state Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk James Ratib; state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew; as well as several other Sabah state assemblymen.
Musa also mingled with the members of the public who had gathered at Terminal 2 of the KKIA, which is located in Tanjung Aru, to welcome and congratulate him.
Earlier, Terminal 2 was filled with media personnel waiting to photograph Musa and get the latest information regarding the former Sabah Chief Minister.
Yesterday, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, presented Musa with the instrument of appointment in a ceremony at Balairung Kecil, Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur.
Musa, 73, was appointed the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah according to Article 1 of the Sabah Constitution for four years from Jan 1, 2025 until Dec 31, 2028.
The appointment of the 14th Sabah Chief Minister is to replace Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, whose term expires on Dec 31. He was appointed to the post on Jan 1, 2011.
