MALAYSIA AIRPORTS OPTIMISES OPERATIONS FOR HOLIDAY TRAVEL PEAK

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd (MAHB) has bolstered manpower to strengthen operations and is ready to ensure smooth passenger flows and reduce waiting time at key touchpoints ahead of the school holidays, Christmas, and New Year’s celebrations. 

Its managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani assured travellers that preparations are in place to manage the increased traffic during that period.

“We have introduced enhanced safety, security, and hygiene measures to provide a stress-free airport experience for all," he said in a statement today.

The airports operator has advised flight passengers to plan ahead and make full use of smart airport facilities from Dec 20 till Jan 5 as passenger traffic is expected to surge during the school holidays, Christmas, and New Year’s celebrations. 

It anticipated that KL International Airport (KLIA) will experience a significant increase for both domestic and international passengers, with daily average passenger movements at Terminals 1 and 2 projected to reach 104,000 and 98,000, respectively.

It said airlines operating at KLIA have collectively scheduled about 30 to 35 additional flights daily, bringing the total to approximately 1,085 flight movements per day. As such, MAHB urged passengers to utilise online or smart check-in kiosks, e-boarding gates, and the MYairports app, for a faster and more convenient experience.

Passengers are also advised to arrive at the airport early to allow ample time for check in and immigration clearing.
