KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- The Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM) has made a significant stride in setting a benchmark for excellence in public relations with the accreditation of 11 practitioners as Accredited Public Relations (APR) professionals.

IPRM vice-president Doris Lim said that the accreditation process highlights the institute's dedication to maintaining professionalism and integrity within the industry.

“We hope to spread awareness about this accreditation process, which can give due recognition and honour the remarkable achievements of PR professionals in Malaysia. Our goal is to set a benchmark for quality and ethical practice, ensuring that our members are recognised for their expertise and contributions to the field,” she said in a statement today.

The newly accredited APR professionals were selected based on their exceptional education, extensive experience, and valuable contributions to the global PR body of knowledge.

Among the recipients was Sahrein Maloh, Corporate Communication manager at Pan Borneo Highway under the Sarawak Public Works Department.

“Obtaining the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) is crucial for PR practitioners as it validates their expertise, strengthens their professional credibility, and showcases a commitment to ethical and strategic communication practices,” Sahrein said.

Another recipient, Cassie Forsythe, senior sales and marketing manager at Sri Pelancongan Sabah, shared her thoughts on the accreditation.

“Pursuing IPRM’s accreditation has deepened my sense of responsibility and commitment to upholding PR best practices. In today’s world of easy content access, delivering the right message remains crucial.

“While public relations are often seen as rapid content creation to reach a broad audience, it’s important for the community to recognise that crafting the right message requires skill and experience,” she said.

Mohamad Shahizam Fauzi, head of Communications at Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council, said the accreditation process had helped him enhance his knowledge and skills.

The APR accreditation process involves rigorous assessments, including case studies, research publications, interviews, and documentation.
