GITC SIGNS MOUS WITH 25 ASSOCIATIONS TO BOOST TVET GRADUATE EMPLOYABILITY

07/01/2025 10:10 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- The Government-Industry TVET Coordination Body (GITC) signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with 25 industry associations on Monday to boost the employability of graduates from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.

In a statement today, GITC said the 25 associations involved in the MoU represent a wide array of industries, including arts, entrepreneurship, hospitality, tourism, women entrepreneurship, business services, digital IR4.0, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

GITC chairman Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai said this initiative marks a crucial step towards bridging the gap between industry and the TVET sector.

“By working together, it is imperative that TVET graduates are given job placements in their respective fields of study. This will not only ensure that companies get talented individuals, it also ensures that graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the workforce," he said.

Incorporated in 2022 as a company limited by guarantee, GITC is a collaborative platform established to bridge the gap between the needs of industries and the education provided by TVET institutions in Malaysia.

GITC is tasked to gather information, provide insights for policy considerations, and champion a dynamic and responsive TVET ecosystem that equips graduates with skills and knowledge demanded by industries.

Meanwhile, GITC chief executive officer Jamil Bakri outlined the key scopes, expectations, and responsibilities in the MoU, emphasising the collaborative approach required to achieve successful outcomes.

“This landmark achievement, with the signing of 100 MoUs, signifies a significant step towards fulfilling GITC’s commitment to providing quality TVET education and enhancing graduate employability.

“Through these partnerships, GITC can offer over 3,000 internships and Work-Based Learning (WBL) placements across the nation for the year 2025,” he added.

TVET institutions interested in exploring placement opportunities or submitting internships or WBL proposals can visit the GITC website at www.gitc.org.my.
