SHAH ALAM, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- The Sultan Alam Shah Museum, in Section 14, which has been closed since 2019, is set to reopen in early February, coinciding with the school holidays and the Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025.

State Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah announced that the museum, also known as the State Museum, will be revitalised, showcasing new attractions, such as a 1960s-era stall exhibition and a three-dimensional (3D) graveyard, with an estimated 100,000 visitors expected this year.

He explained that the '60s stall exhibition will offer visitors an opportunity to explore the history of heritage food and culture from that era.

“The 3D graveyard exhibition is expected to be one of the main attractions, among the 20 segments on display,” he added.

“This exhibition will feature lighting and sound effects to create an immersive experience for visitors, with the aim of enhancing knowledge, while also evoking a sense of self-reflection," he said when contacted by Bernama, today.

Previously, Borhan had announced that the Sultan Alam Shah Museum would reopen to the public at the end of this month, in conjunction with the school holidays.

However, he stated that the reopening had been delayed until next month due to a minor technical issue related to lighting, which was identified during his final visit to the museum, yesterday.

He also mentioned that the museum would incorporate the latest technology, including a Quick Response (QR) code system, to make it easier for visitors to access information about the exhibitions.

The Sultan Alam Shah Museum has been closed since 2019 for upgrading works, which involved renovations to the history gallery, the customs and culture gallery, and the nature gallery.

The state government is targeting approximately eight million tourists for VSY2025, with over 100 exciting events and programmes planned across each district, to achieve this goal.
