DISBURSEMENT OF EARLY SCHOOLING AID EXPANDED TO ALL BANKS - FADHLINA

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Education (MOE) has expanded the disbursement of the Early Schooling Aid (BAP) to all banks, ensuring more efficient and secure management of the funds.

Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated that the one-off BAP payment of RM150 will be credited directly into the accounts of parents, guardians, or students.

"Previously, only one or two banks were involved, but this year’s expansion demonstrates the government’s strong commitment to ensuring all students benefit equally," she said at a press conference following the 2025 BAP presentation ceremony at the Federal Territory Education Department, earlier today.

Also present were Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Minister of Communications and Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil, and Wangsa Maju MP Ir. Ts. Zahir Hassan.

Fadhlina also advised schools managing the BAP in cash to strictly adhere to Treasury Instructions to ensure a smooth distribution process.

"For amounts exceeding RM10,000, schools must comply with Treasury Instructions, including having security personnel present and being accompanied by police officers at the bank," she explained.

As of Jan 10, MOE has disbursed RM723,165,300 to 4,821,102 Year One to Form Four students in the 2024/2025 school session.

Additionally, she announced that BAP distribution for Year One students in the 2025/2026 school session and existing Form Six students in the 2024/2025 session will commence on Feb 16.

Meanwhile, new Form Six students for the 2025/2026 school session will receive their BAP starting July 1.
