MALBATT 850-12 HOSTS MEDIC CARE DAY TO SUPPORT LOCAL COMMUNITY IN LEBANON

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-12 successfully organised the MALBATT Medic Care Day at the Malaysian Hall, Municipality Building of Marakah, Lebanon yesterday, aimed at providing healthcare services to the local population affected by the ongoing conflict in the region.

The initiative, which offered general health check-ups and dental treatments, saw 158 local residents registering to take advantage of the free services offered, highlighting the community’s trust in MALBATT’s commitment to their wellbeing.

In addition to health services, activities for children were also held, providing a platform for positive interaction between the local community and MALBATT personnel. This engagement served to strengthen bonds between the youth and the community, promoting harmony and collaboration in a time of uncertainty.

“The turnout was incredibly encouraging, with people of all ages coming together for the programme. This reflects their strong faith in MALBATT's dedication to supporting them during these challenging times,” said MALBATT in a statement today.

The success of the programme was also attributed to the significant role played by female peacekeepers from MALBATT. Their involvement in the event was crucial in fostering meaningful connections with women and children in the community, in line with the United Nations' (UN) objectives of promoting inclusive peacebuilding.

MALBATT Medic Care Day is part of the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) programme, which not only benefits the local population but also strengthens the relationship between MALBATT, the Lebanese community, and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
