MBAS'S FAST APP A STEP TOWARDS KEDAH CASHLESS 2025

ALOR SETAR, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- The launch of the Friendly and Smart Technology (FAST) mobile app by the Alor Setar City Council (MBAS) is in line with the vision of Kedah Cashless 2025, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said.

He added that the use of cash could be reduced with various apps, including FAST MBAS, and trigger the transition to a digital system that can be accepted as a norm by the public.

"All transactions can be now done through one simple, fast and efficient platform. It is also an important step for MBAS to develop a service delivery system in this city and in Kedah in general.

"The FAST app not only enables the public to pay their house assessments, but also has various facilities to make other payments, including rental for stalls and premises, licences and compounds,” he said during the launch of the app here today.

He also expressed hope that other local authorities in the state would take similar steps as the use of technology in daily life is a change that is required in line with global developments.

Meanwhile, Alor Setar Mayor Datuk Mohd Yusri Md Daud said the app was a changing point from conventional methods to a technological system, especially in the use of revenue collection for the city, adding that it was a smart payment system using app, web and smart kiosks to drive MBAS’s smart city development agenda.

"This app was developed to revolutionise the management of collecting assessment, premise rentals, payments of compounds, licenses and bills by benefiting real time payments using mobile apps as its main medium and supported by web and smart kiosks systems,” he said.

In conjunction with Visit Kedah Year 2025, the app also displays information about tourist locations and attractions, such as popular eateries around Alor Setar.
