KUCHING, Feb 2 (Bernama) -- The book "The 365 Days in Astana: The Story and Portraits of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar” is more than just a collection of images as it captures the essence of responsibility, respect and dedication, said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He added that the events recorded in the book depict and define the esteemed role of Tun Wan Junaidi, presenting a story woven with historical significance and human connections.
"Each portrait tells a story, offering readers a glimpse into the diverse responsibilities that extend beyond the public eye, from fostering unity among Sarawak's diverse population to representing the state at national and international levels.
"Astana Negeri Sarawak, the grand residence and administrative centre of Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Pehin Sri, serves as the majestic backdrop to this profound journey.
"It symbolises Sarawak's rich heritage, where history and modernity blend seamlessly. Within its halls, discussions on governance, culture and the future take place," he said during the launch of the book at the State Assembly tonight.
Meanwhile, Abang Johari said the book "Pejuang Sejati: Dari Rimba Ke Astana” chronicles the life journey and contributions of Tun Wan Junaidi, who is not only known as a leader of great integrity and credibility but also as a statesman deeply committed to the development of Sarawak and the well-being of its people.
"Throughout his career, be it as a legal practitioner, politician, minister or even as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Wan Junaidi has consistently displayed wisdom, moderation and exceptional concern for others.
"These books not only document the career path and achievements of Tun Wan Junaidi but also highlight the values of leadership, resilience and love for the country, which should serve as an inspiration for the current and future generations,” he said.
The two special books narrate the journey and life story of Tun Wan Junaidi, from the beginning of his career to his appointment as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri.
