64 SELANGOR SCHOOLS TO BATTLE IT OUT FOR ESPORTS GLORY

SHAH ALAM, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- A total of 448 students from 64 schools statewide will compete in the two-day 2025 Selangor Future Cup at the Aeon Mall Shah Alam here from Feb 22.

The maiden tournament offers prizes worth a total of RM200,000.

State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi said the tournament aims to expand the talent of the under-17 students in esports competitively as well as enhance strategic skills, leadership and teamwork.

He said each school would send seven representatives and all 448 participants would be evaluated and stand a chance to represent Selangor in next year's Malaysia Games (SUKMA).

"Selangor Future Cup will see the participants competing in the Mobile Legend: Bang Bang (MLBB) game in a league format. In addition to the prizes worth RM200,000, six winners will also be offered scholarships worth RM160,000 to study up to the diploma level by the Todak Academy.

"The diploma course offered covers modules and skills courses related to technical education and vocational training, which then opens up opportunities to empower oneself in the academic field,” he said at the tournament's media conference at the Aeon Mall Shah Alam here today.

The 2025 Selangor Future Cup also involves collaboration with the Selangor Red Giants (SRG) and Todak, which will provide the participants with professional guidance.

Mohd Najwan also said that his committee will seriously consider including esports as one of the events to be contested at the 2026 SUKMA.

"Based on the good response for esports events at the 2024 SUKMA in Sarawak, Selangor intends to maintain the events and a decision on this matter will be announced by August,” he said.
