400,000 VISITORS EXPECTED TO THRONG PESTA ANGIN TIMUR PERLIS 2025

KANGAR, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- The highly anticipated Pesta Angin Timur Perlis 2025 (PAT 2025) is set to draw an estimated 400,000 visitors when it takes place at Kampung Lat Seribu, Tambun Tulang in Arau from Feb 21 to 23.

Perlis Menteri Besar, Mohd Shukri Ramli, expressed confidence in meeting this target, citing the steady rise in visitor numbers in recent years. The 2024 edition of the festival recorded 369,159 attendees, up from 332,803 in 2023.

“This year’s festival promises a vibrant lineup of activities, including a Traditional Kite Competition, Giant Straw Sculpture Contest, Mud Challenge, Beyblade Tournament, Rice Field Volleyball Tournament, and a spectacular Fireworks Display.

“The Mud Challenge, in particular, is expected to add an international flair, with participants from Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia,” he told a press conference on PAT 2025 at the State Legislative Assembly Complex here today.

The festival is also expected to generate RM3 million in sales, surpassing the RM2.8 million recorded last year and RM1.5 million in 2023.

“For PAT 2025, we will provide 225 business lots for entrepreneurs, with sales beginning two days ahead of the festival on Feb 21,” Mohd Shukri added.

Now in its 13th edition, PAT is organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) in collaboration with the Perlis state government, with the Perlis National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) and the Perlis State Cultural Council overseeing its management.
