BATU PAHAT, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- A devoted daughter has made a profound sacrifice, choosing to remain unmarried and leaving her job to provide full-time care for her ailing father, who requires constant attention after having one leg amputated below the knee due to diabetes last year.
For Noraziana Mansoor, 41, her father, Mansoor Mohd Sairi, 75, is her utmost priority, and she considers it her duty to care for him as a heartfelt gesture of gratitude for his love and sacrifices.
She previously worked at a nearby factory but had to resign and now only takes on part-time catering jobs to focus on her father, who is unable to move independently. Her siblings, meanwhile, live far away.
"My father requires follow-up treatment at two hospitals—the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Bahru and the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) in Batu Pahat—every month," she told reporters during the Ziarah Kasih MADANI Programme in the Sri Gading parliamentary constituency today.
The programme saw the Prime Minister’s political secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, representing Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, presenting Ihsan MADANI contributions to those in need.
Another recipient, Zainal Abidin Abdullah, 74, who is in poor health, expressed his gratitude that representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office took the time to visit the sick and elderly in their homes.
"We, as veterans (retired military personnel), are grateful for the visit, especially as it acknowledges our past contributions. Thank you for remembering us," he said.
Meanwhile, Azman said that this edition of the Ziarah Kasih MADANI Programme extended aid to approximately 1,400 people in need across seven parliamentary constituencies in Johor.
He said the three-day programme, which began yesterday, reached those in need in the parliamentary constituencies of Kulai, Kluang, Ayer Hitam, Sri Gading, Muar, Bakri, and Pagoh.
"We are working with non-governmental organisations to identify those in need in these areas.
"The recipients include asnaf, persons with disabilities, single mothers, and senior citizens in poor health," he said.
