PORT DICKSON, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- The Port Dickson Polytechnic (PPD) and the Institute of Leadership and Management (INSKEP) of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) in Sendayan are collaborating to develop high-quality human capital and further reinforce the country’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem.
PPD director Hasan Mohd Sharif said the partnership is a significant step in advancing research and innovation at both national and international levels, and a Note of Collaboration (NoC) between both institutions has been signed to drive innovations that can be applied in the industry and community to improve workflow efficiency.
“This initiative also aims to encourage knowledge-sharing and exchange of expertise between PPD and INSKEP, while providing lecturers and students the opportunity to apply their technical skills and innovations in real-world settings.
“Over 35 per cent of PPD’s teaching staff has industry experience across various fields, including engineering, architecture, banking, accounting, hospitality, graphic design, filmmaking, and more, all of which are aligned with TVET’s direction,” he said in a statement today.
Hasan said PPD is also home to two centres of excellence; the Centre of Architecture & Technology (CArT) and the Centre for Electrical, Energy, Technology & Services (CENTS), both of which contribute to community development and offer industry expertise.
Meanwhile, INSKEP commanding officer at RMAF Sendayan Airbase, Lieutenant Colonel Syaffiza Abdul Razak said through this collaboration, INSKEP RMAF will develop an innovative product called MatSenz (Mat Sensor), which is a detection and warning system for children trapped in vehicles.
“This product has the potential to save lives and is a crucial step in enhancing the community’s well-being. It is being jointly developed by PPD and INSKEP,” he said.
Syaffiza said he hoped that the partnership could be expanded through the exchange of expertise, apart from the implementation of reskilling and upskilling programmes that benefit RMAF officers and personnel.
