KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council-Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) today launched the Ramadan 2025/1446H Campaign to encourage Muslims to fulfil their zakat (tithe) and wakaf (endowment) obligations during the holy month.
PPZ-MAIWP deputy chief executive officer (operations) Mohammed Hassan said the campaign, themed ‘Jiwa Memberi,’ was also aimed at promoting the agency’s services, payment channels, and various programmes organised throughout Ramadan.
He said PPZ-MAIWP was making a difference this year by collaborating with strategic partners and zakat payers, namely Tudungruffle, Bright Cow, and the Iman Pro application.
“Through the collaboration with Tudungruffle, the first 1,000 women who pay at least RM1,000 in zakat on property at any PPZ-MAIWP counter will have the opportunity to receive an exclusive Tudungruffle souvenir.
“I was told that this exclusive Tudungruffe hijab souvenir is specially designed and not available for sale. It’s a special gift for 1,000 zakat payers. Those paying zakat or wakaf will also get a PPZ x Tudungruffe Raya envelope,” he said at the programme launch here today.
Mohammed said the collaboration with Bright Cow allowed the first 10,000 zakat or wakaf payers at PPZ-MAIWP counters to receive a special Ramadan kit, which included boxed milk and dates.
He added that PPZ-MAIWP zakat payers who downloaded the Iman Pro application could enjoy a free seven-day trial from Feb 28 to March 4, 2025.
In addition, Mohammed said PPZ-MAIWP would organise various special programmes throughout Ramadan, including the Turun Padang Programme, the 1 Hari 1 Ilmu Programme, a five-episode Ramadan short drama airing every Wednesday, and Ramadan Rewards.
He said the agency would also provide multiple zakat and wakaf payment options to make it easier for the public, with 10 PPZ-MAIWP counters operating daily, including public holidays, from 8.15 am to 4.30 pm, except on the last day of Ramadan, when they close at 1 pm.
Mohammed said other facilities provided included the MyZakat application, the PPZ-MAIWP portal, the Monthly Zakat Deduction Scheme (PZB), 969 appointed amil (zakat collector) fitrah, the Amil2U mobile zakat counter and Ride2U service, digital zakat counters, and zakat collection agents.
“We hope for the support of all parties, including media partners, celebrities, and influencers, to raise awareness about zakat and wakaf so that the joy of Ramadan can be shared by everyone, especially the asnaf group and those in need,” he said.
