JOHOR BAHRU, March 2 (Bernama) – The Johor state government has expressed pride in the state’s education innovation team for making a name on the global stage at the World Youth STEM Invention Innovation (WYSII) 2025, in Medan, Indonesia from Feb 23 to 27.
State Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin, in a Facebook post said the team’s achievements in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) were not just a milestone, but a testament to Johor's youth excellence on the global stage.
The team comprised students from various schools across Johor including SMK Infant Jesus (IJ) Convent, SMK (P) Sultan Ibrahim, SMK Sultan Ismail and Sekolah Tun Fatimah in Johor Bahru, along with schools from Kota Tinggi and Tangkak.
The event, which saw participation from 32 countries, also set a new record in the Malaysia Book of Records in the STEM category for having the largest Malaysian contingent with 589 participants.
“This achievement goes beyond trophies or medals. It serves as an inspiration for young people to discover their talents, challenge their potential and bring pride to the nation and Johor,” said Azman.
He also congratulated Ng Han Guan from SMK IJ Convent, who was among the top 10 winners in the WYSII International Teacher Awards, a prestigious recognition for Johor’s educators.
