GITT WITH SHOPPING MALL CONCEPT WILL BE A NEW ATTRACTION - TEGAS

KUALA LUMPUR, March 5  (Bernama) -- The Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal (GITT), which is expected to be fully operational in May, will not only become the main transportation hub to the East Coast but also lure visitors with its exclusive shopping mall concept.

With its spacious layout and well-organized infrastructure, including 1,200 parking lots, TBG offers a captivating and exclusive experience.

Terminal Bersepadu Gombak Sdn Bhd (TEGAS) founder and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohd Nadzlim Mohd Noor said that the seven-storey terminal will feature three floors dedicated to bus services, while the remaining four floors will function as a shopping mall, ensuring a comfortable experience for users.

“People come to the bus terminal to take the bus back to their villages, but at GITT, they can also do their shopping because there will be kiosks selling various types of goods and food with an F&B concept, restaurants and convenience stores.

“There will also be beauty, health and fitness shops, and many others. There is also a multipurpose hall that can be rented for any function, including weddings, which can accommodate up to 2,000 people at a time," he told Bernama yesterday.

The GITT, which is strategically located along the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) and close to the Gombak Toll Plaza and Gombak LRT Station, will serve as the main transportation hub for travel to Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke was there yesterday for an inspection of its operational readiness and the terminal's infrastructure connectivity with the Gombak Light Rail Transit (LRT) Station and the Gombak East Coast Link Rail (ECRL).

Loke said GITT is expected to operate on March 15 with the operation to start with buses travelling from the East Coast, which will be dropping off passengers at the terminal for the first week of operations. In the second week, operations will continue with passengers boarding the buses to their destinations.

Apart from express buses, GITT also connects intercity buses and is integrated with the Gombak LRT station and the Gombak ECRL station, whose construction has reached 79 per cent.

Mohd Nadzlim said that the full operation of GITT would overcome congestion at the South Integrated Terminal which currently offers bus services to the East Coast.

"The most important aspect is the strategic location of the bus platform, which ensures easy access for passengers. Clear signage is available at every location, along with information counters on the first floor or main lobby," he said.

He also said its access to the LRT and the soon-to-be-completed ECRL is strategically planned.

According to him, every step of the passenger journey, from purchasing tickets—either physically or through vending machines—to information on finding the platform and boarding the bus, is properly planned to make it easier for people.

This includes the disabled-friendly facilities at GITT, such as toilets, prayer rooms and mobility aids for boarding and disembarking.

"We have a dedicated platform for disabled passengers. When purchasing tickets, they can select a specific feature indicating their disability. Once identified, the system will ensure the bus is stationed at an accessible platform," he explained.

He added that GITT will provide jobs for 3,000 people who will form the backbone of the terminal's operations.
