KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) hosted 80 underprivileged children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary KL and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim & Asnaf Teratak Ummi at a Ramadan event held here last night.

Aimed at spreading joy and supporting underprivileged children during the holy month of Ramadan, the event was attended by MITEC chief executive officer Mala Dorasamy and Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Qube) executive chairman Richard Teo.

In a statement, MITEC said that the initiative reflects its commitment to giving back to society. Each home received an RM1,000 donation, while the children were gifted with duit raya to brighten their celebrations.

“The event featured a special Iftar (breaking of fast) session where the children enjoyed a delightful feast, underscoring MITEC’s dedication to fostering community engagement and social responsibility.

“This initiative also aligns with Qube’s commitment to social responsibility and community empowerment, reinforcing MITEC’s role as both a world-class event venue and a platform for meaningful engagement,” the statement read.

Mala, in the same statement, said that Ramadan is a time for reflection, generosity, and community, adding that MITEC was honoured to welcome these inspiring children and provide them with a joyful experience.

“At MITEC, we believe in the power of giving back and strengthening the bonds that unite us as a society,” she said.

Meanwhile, Teo expressed that it was a privilege for Qube to host the children, noting that its team curated special activities to create a memorable Ramadan experience in a distinguished setting, allowing the children to enjoy the warmth and wonder of a world-class venue.

“More than just a celebration, we want to bring joy to their hearts, fill them with hope, and open their eyes to new opportunities.

“At Qube, our commitment goes beyond business - we strive to uplift communities, foster meaningful connections, and leave a lasting positive impact,” he said.

As a heartwarming gesture, MITEC extended an open invitation to the children, encouraging them to revisit the venue and explore the many exciting exhibitions and cultural events held throughout the year, offering them a glimpse into the dynamic world of events.
