JOHOR BAHRU, March 15 (Bernama) -- The Johor Port Authority (LPJ) is committed to enhancing the well-being of the Kampung Kong Kong Laut community in Masai here through the ‘One Leader, One Village Programme’, also known as Santuni MADANI.
LPJ general manager Datuk Monaliza Suhaimi said it focuses on playing a key role in ensuring the effective and sustainable implementation of social development initiatives in its adopted village.
“We are focused on improving port performance and efficiency, but at the same time we believe in sharing the benefits with the surrounding community.
“This is among our objectives through Santuni MADANI, where we aim not only for port progress but also for community empowerment,” she told Bernama at the Bakul MADANI Ramadan and Duit Raya distribution programme in the village yesterday.
Tiram assemblyman Azizul Bachok and Pasir Gudang City Council member Malik Mahmod were also present.
Elaborating, Monaliza said LPJ’s contributions include donating a boat to enhance residents’ emergency preparedness, repairing the roof of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kongkong Laut and supporting education and human capital development initiatives to improve community well-being.
She said these efforts are based on engagement sessions with residents to identify their challenges.
“Our key initiatives include continuous aid and support for those in need, alongside community activities to foster unity and resilience,” she said.
Earlier, LPJ distributed Bakul MADANI Ramadan aid, comprising essential supplies, to 100 asnaf families and duit raya to children in conjunction with the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.
The Santuni MADANI programme, introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, aims to enhance village potential and community capacity.
It focuses on identifying socio-economic issues and residents’ needs through direct monitoring and engagement involving Cabinet members, senior government officials and government-linked companies.
