KANGAR, March 15 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), in collaboration with the Perlis Journalists Association (PWP), organised the ‘Singgah Sahur’ programme to appreciate frontline workers on night duty ensuring the community’s safety and well-being.
UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli said that the programme was not merely about providing ‘sahur’ (pre-dawn) meals, but also a gesture of appreciation for the dedication and commitment of frontline personnel in fulfilling their duties.
“Every frontline worker plays a crucial role in safeguarding the community, especially those on night duty. This initiative serves as a token of appreciation and gratitude for their unwavering dedication,” he told reporters, after the Singgah Sahur programme, early this morning.
Seven media personnel, including from Bernama, had the opportunity to connect with frontline teams through the programme, which saw the distribution of 350 food packages and drinks. The initiative involved various security and rescue agencies across the state.
The locations visited included the Arau Fire and Rescue Station, Padang Besar Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS), the Emergency and Trauma Department at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF), the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Kangar, and the Perlis contingent police headquarters (IPK).
