BERNAMA CONTINUES INDAHNYA RAMADAN CSR TRADITION AT KAMPUNG BATU LAUT

KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 (Bernama) -- Reaffirming its commitment to serving the community, the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) continued its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in conjunction with Ramadan at the Inayaturrahman Mosque, Kampung Batu Laut, Tanjung Sepat, Selangor, today.

Themed “Indahnya Ramadan”, the CSR initiative in Bernama’s adopted village under the Santuni MADANI: One Leader, One Village Programme included a breaking of fast event with the local community, distribution of duit raya to orphans, and contributions to the mosque management committee.

The Indahnya Ramadan CSR programme in Kampung Batu Laut, Tanjung Sepat, one of the oldest villages in Kuala Langat, will commence at 5 pm, with attendance from Selangor State Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah, who is also the Tanjung Sepat assemblyman.

Bernama’s chief executive officer, Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, and editor-in-chief, Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, along with agency staff, will take part in the CSR event to foster closer ties with the local community.

The programme is made possible through the collaboration of Bernama’s strategic partners, namely Rimbunan Kuasa Sdn Bhd, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Maybank, Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas), MTD Group, Maju Expressway Sdn Bhd (MEX), and the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS).

Founded in the early 1800s, Kampung Batu Laut is located about 60 kilometres from Shah Alam, the Selangor state capital is now home to about 3,500 residents, most of whom are farmers and fishermen.

Kampung Batu Laut was officially launched as Bernama’s adopted village on Oct 12, 2024, by Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, who is also the Sepang Member of Parliament

The Santuni MADANI: One Leader, One Village programme is the brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and was announced in May 2024.

One of its main objectives is to facilitate direct monitoring and engagement with the local community to identify socio-economic issues and the needs of residents in villages selected by government leaders.

Last year, Dataran Putrajaya and Bazaria Lembah Pantai were among the locations for Bernama’s Ramadan CSR programme, which was graced by the presence of Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
