KANGAR, March 16 (Bernama) – The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, has been appointed Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) Chancellor effective April 15, until April 14, 2030.
‘The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) said the appointment is in accordance with in Section 32 of the UniSIRAJ Constitution (2024), and would allow the Raja Muda to guide Islamic higher education institution towards greater excellence.
"UniSIRAJ upholds 'Applied Sunnah' as its core focus and emphasises the practice of Sunnah in all aspects of life, in line with its slogan, 'Di Sini Pencinta Sunnah Dilahirkan'," the university said in a statement today.
The university was formerly known as Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis (KUIPs) and its upgrade to UniSIRAJ was approved in November 2024 and announced by the Raja Muda on Nov 23 last year.
UniSIRAJ currently offers 27 academic programmes at foundation, diploma, bachelor's degree, master's degree, and doctorate levels.
The university has four main faculties - the Islamic Studies Faculty, Muamalat and Islamic Finance Faculty, Business and Management Sciences Faculty and Al-Quran and Sunnah Faculty - along with a Centre for Foundation Studies and a Postgraduate Studies Centre.
