KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 (Bernama) – The Ladies’ Council of the All Malaysia Malayalee Association (AMMA) organised a supermarket shopping hunt for charity in conjunction with International Women’s Day, bringing together members for a fun and meaningful cause.
A total of 76 women from AMMA took part in the event, held yesterday at Lulu Hypermarket & Department Store in the heart of the city.
Divided into 19 teams of four, participants raced against time to decipher clues and purchase essential items such as food, toiletries, and household goods. The hunt was officially flagged off by AMMA Deputy President Datin Seri Shaila Nair at the hypermarket. Also present were AMMA Ladies’ Council Chairman Shobhna Nair and Lulu Hypermarket top executives Mujeeb Salahudeen and Mohammed Aslam.
All purchased items were donated to two welfare homes, namely Rumah Anak Yatim Keramat and Karunai Illam, in support of those in need, said Shobhna Nair.
To add to the excitement, prizes in the form of electronic goods were awarded to the three teams with the highest points.
Emerging as champions with an impressive score of 91.5 out of 100 was The Cart Crashers, comprising Geetha Padmanabhan, Santhi V. Zevaraj, Manjoo Maithili Ganesan and Pavesha Nair.
Close behind in second place was St Anne’s Convent Alumni, Klang, represented by Ng Pick Wan, Puspamala Somoo, Magdeleen Cross and Melissa Bhagat, with 90 points. The Boss Babes (Persatuan Malabari Malaysia) – featuring Sharifah Said Ali, Juina Joha, Aqila Shafra Abd Kadir and Nor Janati Abd Hamid – secured third place with 87 points.
The event successfully combined fun, teamwork and charity, reinforcing AMMA’s commitment to giving back to the community while celebrating the spirit of International Women’s Day that was celebrated on March 8.
