17/03/2025 06:12 PM

KUALA TERENGGANU, March 17 (Bernama) -- All mosques in the country have been urged to increase activities and programmes to ensure the Muslim community recites the al-Quran in conjunction with the Nuzul al-Quran which will be celebrated tomorrow.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the programmes and activities should be carried out not only to celebrate Nuzul al-Quran, but also as an effort to form a Malaysian society with good morals and noble character.

"We hope that in conjunction with Nuzl al-Quran, mosques and suraus will increase activities and programmes to encourage the Muslim community to recite and appreciate the al-Quran so that we can succeed in forming a society with noble morals and ethics," he told reporters after completing the Santuni Komuniti Madani programme at the Kuala Terengganu City Council Bus Stop, here today.

Mohd Na'im said at the federal level, the World #QuranHour programme is scheduled to take place on March 25, at the International Islamic University Malaysia in Gombak, Selangor.

He said the World #QuranHour, which was held to encourage the public to interact with the holy book of the al-Quran through reading, understanding and application, was expected to attract between 4,000 and 5,000 participants.

Earlier, Mohd Na'im said the Madani Community Santuni Programme today saw a total of 120 recipients comprising bus drivers, rental car, taxi drivers and counter attendants receive donations in the form of boxes of food items such as rice and cooking oil.

He said the total contribution of RM26,500 allocated by Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia (YWM) coincided with one of the six core values of Malaysia Madani, namely Ihsan.

"In line with that, YWM took the initiative to support taxi, rental car and bus drivers around Kuala Terengganu as a sign of concern and support for the local community regardless of race, race and religion," he said, who also distributed bubur lambuk to the community around the Kuala Terengganu City Council Bus Stop.
