KL FESTIVE BAZAARS TO FOLLOW RAMADAN, AIDILFITRI BAZAAR MANAGEMENT CONCEPT - DR ZALIHA

21/03/2025 11:31 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Minister Council Meeting today agreed to expand this year’s Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaar management concept to other festive bazaars in Kuala Lumpur, including the upcoming Deepavali and Chinese New Year bazaars.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the matter was agreed upon during the meeting, which was held for the first time this year and attended by all Members of Parliament for Kuala Lumpur constituencies or their representatives.

“This is in line with the MADANI Government’s commitment to enhancing governance, ensuring transparency, and guaranteeing justice for all traders and city dwellers.

“We will continue to implement improvements in the federal capital to ensure it remains a liveable city for all,” she said in a Facebook post.

Dr Zaliha said the meeting discussed several key matters, including the successful management of this year’s Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars, which were now handled directly, transparently, and with integrity by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), earning praise from Kuala Lumpur MPs.

Meanwhile, at the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Nur Ramadan Programme 2025, Dr Zaliha said DBKL had received a RM4.8 million contribution from the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) to support the MySchoolBus@Wilayah programme, an initiative under Ilmu@PUJI.

She said that the contribution would benefit 4,000 Muslim asnaf students, representing nearly 51 per cent of the total participants.

“This year, we have 7,800 students from the needy category residing in 140 public housing areas, public housing programmes, and low-cost private housing, all registered under the MySchoolBus@Wilayah programme,” she said.

The Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Nur Ramadan Programme was also attended by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

In addition, Dr Zaliha said RM1.1 million in zakat funds from MAIWP had been allocated for Nur Ramadan contributions in the three Federal Territories this year.

“Of that amount, RM300,000 was distributed to 3,300 asnaf and the poor from 11 parliamentary constituencies in Kuala Lumpur,” she said.

The Federal Territories Nur Ramadan Programme was organised to assist the less fortunate and strengthen ties between the community, in line with the aspirations of MADANI Malaysia.
