SUBANG JAYA, March 23 (Bernama) -- International Women's Association Kuala Lumpur (IWAKL) today celebrates the orphans, asnaf children and single mothers to enliven the month of Ramadan by extending assistance to those in need.
IWAKL President Sherrie Aljuneid-Eitler in her speech said that under its philanthropy initiative, the association extended its support to orphans and asnaf children from Rumah Amal Baitul Kasih, Rawang and Mahaad Tahfiz Al-Falahiyyah, Shah Alam.
She added that single mothers from the People's Housing Project (PPR) Pangsapuri Anggerik, Ampang, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) are from OKU Sentral.
"The 90 orphans have received baju raya and goodies, while 20 single mothers and five representatives of PWD were given food baskets and goodies individually.
"IWAKL takes the opportunity to treat the needy to an iftar feast to enjoy the atmosphere of celebrating Ramadan together at Dorsett Grand Subang here, today," she said.
Earlier, Nurin Aina Abdullah Political Secretary to Minister of Federal of Territories Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa handed three mock cheques amounting to RM2,000 for each beneficiary, namely Rumah Amal Baitul Kasih, Rawang; Mahaad Tahfiz Al-Falahiyyah, Shah Alam and OKU Sentral.
