TF VALUE-MART OPENS 49TH HYPERMARKET AT BATU CAVES

24/03/2025 04:31 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 (Bernama) -- TF Value-Mart has achieved a remarkable feat, opening its latest and 49th hypermarket in Malaysia at Batu Caves in just 28 days after taking vacant possession of the premises on Feb 21.

TF Value-Mart Sdn Bhd in a statement said the company's takeover of the Batu Caves hypermarket follows a legal dispute with GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the operator of the Giant Hypermarket.

“In November 2024, the High Court issued an ancillary order mandating GCH Retail to vacate the premises within three months. The court also allowed the insertion of penal notice to ensure the outgoing tenants comply with the delivery of the vacant possession.

“On Feb 21, 2025, TF Value-Mart officially took vacant possession of the 180,000-square-foot location, marking the end of a prolonged legal battle. Meanwhile, an ongoing case between GCH Retail and TF Value-Mart is scheduled for a hearing in May 2026,” the statement read.

On March 20, 2025, over 9,000 customers flocked to the newly revamped hypermarket, eager to experience the refreshed shopping environment just in time for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

To commemorate the opening, TF Value-Mart is rolling out exclusive Rahmah MADANI Promotions, offering significant discounts on essential goods and festive products, ensuring greater savings for customers during the Hari Raya season.

TF Value-Mart chief executive officer Ho Mun Hao expressed pride in the company's ability to launch the store in record time, highlighting the overwhelming response from shoppers on opening day.

“This new store represents an investment of over RM27 million in capital expenditure and inventory and has created 150 new job opportunities for Malaysians,” Ho stated.

With a workforce of over 3,300 employees, TF Value-Mart remains committed to supporting local businesses by partnering with more than 150 local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to promote their products across all stores.

“In 2024, TF Value-Mart successfully boosted SME sales to over RM42 million, reinforcing its role as a key player in strengthening Malaysia's retail ecosystem,” according to the statement.

Meanwhile, reaffirming its dedication to social responsibility, TF Value-Mart will be supporting 100 families and the Al Nasuha Shelter Home in Batu Caves by providing staple necessities and an RM100 shopping voucher for each child at Al Nasuha to help ease financial burdens.
